Sedona in the Snow

Hello family + friends!

We recently got back from a camping trip in the Coconino Forest, where we got to experience something truly special…seeing the Grand Canyon and the beautiful town of Sedona covered in snow.

With the prediction of freezing temperatures and a high chance of snow on Tuesday, we grabbed our tent heater and decided to head out for a 4-day camping trip in Sedona.

After several hours on the road, we arrived and instantly fell in love with the colors that surrounded us - warm reds and deep greens. We both agreed Sedona was one of the most beautiful towns we had visited (Jackson Hole, WY and Springdale, UT - aka Zion, being top two).

Once we arrived to the Manzanita Campground, we set up camp next to the creek and went into town to explore. The weather couldn’t have been any better: blue skies and sunshine! Downtown Sedona was very dog-friendly and full of shops we could explore together. Beau even did some shopping and picked up a bandana.

The following day we hit the road again and took a day trip to the Grand Canyon. Although we had already visited this amazing landmark back in 2018, we thought Beau needed to experience it.

Once we arrived to the South Rim, we immediately pulled over to admire the view - including Beau. It was a breezy day but he seemed to enjoy the wind blowing across his face. It was Beau’s first time experiencing the snow and needless to say he was instantly obsessed! We think the photo below speaks for itself.

Tuesday morning we woke up to the campground covered in a light dusting of snow and decided a quick hike wouldn’t hurt. Eli had Devil’s Bridge in mind but with the snow still falling and possibility of ice, we decided it was safer to explore Soldier’s Pass instead. What would have been a packed trail, ended up being a quiet hike with only a few other hikers braving the cold temperatures.

We made it about halfway before the weather made us turn around and head back to camp. Even though we didn’t get to complete the hike, what we got to see was absolutely stunning. We had never seen so many varieties of plants in such a unique environment. Pictures do not do this magical place justice.

All we can say is that 4 days was not enough. We look forward to coming back one day and exploring more of the wonders this great town has to offer. Until next time!
